1. Vladimir Lenin: Lenin was he founder of the Bolshevik party and organizer of the October Revolution, which turned Russia into a Communist state. He was a follower of Marxism and the first leader of the Soviet Union. He believed that once Communism started in Russia it would eventually spread all over the world.
2. Lev Kamenev: Kamenev was the Bolshevik leader who refused all of Lenin's plans to have a revolution sooner rather than later. After the revolution, he served in the Soviet government but was eventually executed.
3. Leon Trotsky: Trotsky was another Bolshevik leader and played a huge role in the October Revolution. He headed the Revolutonary Military Committee, which provided the military support during the October Revolutuion. After the Revolution, he was appointed the cCommissar of Foreign Affairs. He made Russia's exit from World War I possible.
4. Alexander Kerensky: Karensky was a member of the Social Revolutionary Party and a lawyer. He joined the government's cabinet and soon after was named the prime minister of the provisional government. He eventually fled Russia to live in Europe and later the United States.
5. Tsar Nicholas Romanov: Romanov was the king of the Russian state from 1894-1917. He was seen as an incapable leader from the start of his rule. Under his rule, Russia was deteriorating, not flourishing. They had an ill equipped military, so they lost a major war with Japan. Bloody Sunday, a horrifically violent encounter between peaceful protesters and garrison troops, also led to the downfall of the throne and Russia. When WWI began, Russia was unable to handle affairs both at home and abroad in other countries. This resulted in revolts and strikes all over Russia. A provisional government was set up but it failed miserably. When the Soviet Union took control, Nicholas, his wife, and children were all executed.
6. Joseph Stalin: Stalin was a Bolshevik leader given the position of Commissar of Nationalities under Lenin's rule. Stalin gained power and seceded Lenin as the leader of the Soviet Union in 1924.
