what is the october revolution?
The October Revolution is the second phase of the Russian Revolution. It was a quiet and peaceful revolution, unlike many revolutions in the past. The people were more focused on survival than on fighting for a genuinely well-structured government. A revolutionary by the name of Vladimir Lenin was trying to gain support of the masses ,who were demanding immediate change. The unemployment rate was at an all time high, industrial production decreased significantly, and living costs spiked rapidly. Citizens all over Russia went on strike and protested for better conditions in the government. The country was on the brink of bankruptcy. The October Revolution’s main goal was to forcefully remove the provisional government that already was in place. The provisional government was well aware of this, so they set up a defense mechanism. They gathered up all of the high-ranking officials and attempted to create a plan to deal with the upcoming threat of the Bolshevik revolts. The ultimate decision was to close down all of the Bolshevik’s Newspapers, but this action had no effect on the Bolshevik’s plans. When rumors of the upcoming revolt began to circulate, the temporary government, a group of Ministers, decided it was best to move their headquarters to the Tsar’s old Winter Palace. The day of the actual Revolution did not involve any violence of any sort. The Revolution was more focused on arresting those who were in power at that moment. The Bolsheviks went to the Winter Palace, and arrested all of the ministers except for Alexander Kerensky, only because he fled the country. After the Revolution removed the previous government, the Bolsheviks took over and redistributed all of the lands to the lower classes. They declared Russia a peaceful country and changed the government name to the Soviet of the People’s Commissars.
