August 31, 1917: The Bolsheviks gained the majority in the Petrograd Soviet (representative of the city's workers).
September 5, 1917: The Bolsheviks gained the majority in the Moscow Soviet.
October 10, 1917: The Bolshevik Central Committee and Vladimir Lenin decide it is best to proceed with the revolution.
October 23, 1917: The Provisional government decides to shut down every Bolshevik Newspaper.
